From Burt Prelutsky — Liberals:  America's Termites

Burt Prelutsky's new book of political commentary, Liberals: America's Termites, is now available.

The irrepressible former LA Times humor columnist and movie reviewer for Los Angeles Magazine provides this blurb for his book:

"Witty political commentary in which liberals in general, and their leaders in particular, are hoisted on their own arrogant petards. In 13 chapters, a few of which are 'Islam is a Peaceful Religion, and If You Don't Believe It, They'll Cut Off Your Head,' "'Why 80% of Jews Vote Like 90% of Blacks,' 'Why 90% of Blacks Vote Like 80% of Jews,' 'Sex, Sex and More Sex"' and 'Hollywood Would Rather Make Trouble Than Movies.'

"Prelutsky, like a modern-day Zorro, slashes away at the likes of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Waxman, Rangel, Olbermann, Matthews, Emanuel, Axelrod, George Clooney, Sean Penn, Jon Stewart, Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, Bill Maher, and all the rest of the left-wing termites who have infested Washington and the world of entertainment."

The book is available from Amazon.com, or it can be ordered for $20 (including shipping and handling) from Burt's own imprint, Scorched Earth Press, 16604 Dearborn Street, North Hills, CA 91343-3604.

Burt maintains a very active blog, skewering those on all points of the political spectrum, at www.BurtPrelutsky.com, from which we swiped his photo.

From Bob Scheer:  The Great American Stickup

The Great American Stick-up: How Reagan Republicans and Clinton Democrats Enriched Wall Street While Mugging Main Street, by LA Times columnist and editor-in-chief of TruthDig.com Robert Scheer, was published in paperback on September 7.

Bob's latest book takes a hard look at the meltdown of the mortgage market and at the many decisions by politicians on both sides of the aisle, going back many years, that set the stage for the nation's greatest economic crisis since the Depression.

Scheer notes that, while Ronald Reagan preached deregulation, it was under Bill Clinton that Wall Street got the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act, enabling bankers to take much greater risks than in the past. That freed them to invest in derivatives and other complex securities, including the bundled mortgages that led to the great housing bubble that recently popped.

Although an avowed fan of President Obama early on, Scheer believes the president's policies are off-target. Rather than focusing on help to the banks, Scheer believes the Administration should have imposed a moratorium on foreclosures for several years

An excerpt from the book is available on TruthDig, and the book can be purchased on Amazon.com
